Position Overview
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Lead Engineer (Topsides) is accountable for the delivery of topside activity across a portfolio of projects. The post holder will provide technical engineering and leadership to a range of projects across multiple offshore assets. The post holder will also provide a key role in the company's project delivery and governance process through the projects life-cycle (Appraise to Execute stages).
This onshore role will manage the topside elements of a range of in-year and multi-year projects pre and post-sanction.
Accountabilities
· Provide both leadership and effective management of scope, working both independently and within a multi-disciplined team
· Delivery of Topside engineering scopes with cost and time estimates
· Integrated delivery to include robust interface management with Wells elements of selected projects
Key Duties
· Maintain and promote compliance with the Project Delivery System (PDS) and the specific Project Execution Plans (PEPs)
· Work in accordance with the Project Management System Framework (PMSF) and ensure compliance with project designs and specifications
· Development of safe and environmentally sound designs, supported by HAZIDs and HAZOPs as appropriate
· Develop a comprehensive understanding of the risks and opportunities associated with scope and put in place mitigation plans as necessary
· Collaborate effectively with others and ensure robust identification and implementation of appropriate engineering and design requirements (particularly at boundary or interface limits)
· Maintain formal records relating to technical queries, concession requests, interfaces, change management and variation control
· Provide timely and accurate progress reports to the Projects Manager on a weekly and monthly basis
· Maintain proactive engagement with other projects to promote business alignment, seek efficiencies in processes and procedures, provide and obtain relevant lessons from other areas of the business
· Provide critical technical evaluation of commercial and contractual matters relating to scope, as appropriate
· Engage the services of the Independent Verification Body (IVB) as necessary
· Manage the performance of contractors to meet the project objectives and goals (including targets for HSE, schedule and cost)
· Make or propose any intervention necessary to maintain high contractor performance and realise opportunities and efficiencies
· Drive continual improvement in project delivery and associated business processes, procedures and guidelines
Education Attainment & Accreditation
· Qualified at degree level or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline
Professional Skills & Experience
· Robust technical understanding of regulations, codes, standards, guidelines and good practice for the UKCS oil and gas industry
· Significant engineering and technical experience gained in an oil and gas engineering and project delivery environment ideally with both operator and contractor experience
· Sound appreciation of industry technology trends, developments and challenges
