Role synopsis
This role is a part of the Production Services team in Hull, providing services, expertise, assurance and support to the Production and Research teams in order to deliver safe, compliant, reliable operations over the short, medium and long term. The role reports to the Engineering Integrity Manager, within an independent UKAS accredited Inspection department.
The post holder will be responsible for the provision of integrity services to the asset in accordance with Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR) and other relevant Statutory and Company requirements. This involves specifying and providing authoritative examination and assessment of in-service condition of mechanical static equipment, and technical input into QA / inspection of new equipment. This includes the technical specification and management of key service providers including NDT companies.
The Asset Integrity Engineer ensures all required inspections are carried out to schedule, and are fit-for-purpose to achieve compliance with the relevant national, industry and BP codes and are in line with the asset objectives.
The role requires significant activity and expertise in data analysis, trending and interpretation, utilising inspection results held in IDMS (Inspection Data Management System) along with RBI analysis to provide effective WSE’s and inform forward looking asset plans and repair/replacement strategies.


Key accountabilities

    Ensure compliance with HSSE standards and expectations set through the BP group, and act to foster a "Believe in Zero" culture.
    Promote safety culture through visible leadership in the field, for example Safety Observation Conversations, Audits and Good Spot reporting.
    Lead by example as a role model for BP's leadership values and behaviours, fostering the development of a diverse and inclusive environment, with a strong 'speak up' safety and operating culture.
    Responsible for ‘Competent Person’ duties under PSSR.
    Responsible for Integrity of plant and equipment for a dedicated asset.
    Significant input to 10 year equipment repair/replacement plan, working closely with the asset teams on agreed options.
    Completes detailed analysis of corrosion including performing statistical analysis.
    Develop effective WSEs, review inspection and NDT findings and analyse implications for future endorsement.
    Liaise closely with asset teams regarding the management of integrity vulnerabilities and investigation of equipment failures via RCFA.
    Responsible for IDMS inspection schedules for statutory and integrity mechanical items.
    Work with the inspection maintenance planner to plan and schedule inspection and NDT resources in order to efficiently achieve inspection tasks.
    Monitor and report to EIM (Engineering Integrity Manager) on inspection compliance.
    Approver of inspection reports, integrity aspects of design drawings for plant and equipment and specialist Inspection approver of MAFs (Modification Approvals).
    Provide specialist inspection expertise on the fabrication of new equipment.
    Technical Leader for RBI reviews for asset area.
    Utilises latest proven tools to optimise equipment inspection schedules and procedures.
    Participate and lead continuous improvement and innovation activities.
    Conducts and leads FFS (fitness for service studies) utilising API 579 / BS 7910.

Essential Education

Degree or relevant other qualification in Mechanical, Corrosion or Materials related discipline.
Essential experience and job requirements

    Proven experience in an inspection or integrity engineering role.
    In depth knowledge and application of inspection and NDT techniques.
    In depth knowledge of materials and materials failure.
    Knowledge of applicable Statutory requirements and industry standards including PSSR, COMAH, API, ASME & ANSI.
    Excellent organisation, management, interpersonal and communication skills.
    Inspection Data Management Systems eg. Meridium.
    Integrity Management Processes (RBI, FFS etc.)
    Knowledge and application of the design and construction of pressure equipment.

Desirable criteria & qualifications

    Chartered Engineer
    Phd in Corrosion or Metallurgy or related discipline.
    Certification in API 570, 510, 653.
    RG2 Cat 1 Inspector
    Knowledge and application of advanced NDT methods.
