| Job Description |
|
We are currently recruiting for a Civil Roads & Utilities Superintendent responsible for ensuring the site works are properly managed and executed by the Construction Contractor and their approved Subcontractors in accordance with the Contract Agreement.
Job Scope
* Site survey and benchmark controls
* site preparation works; grub, clear, cut and fill
* temporary and permanent site road construction
* excavations, services trenching
* underground/above ground utility infrastructure; power, transformers, water treatment & reticulation, drainage, boreholes, handpumps etc.
* reinforced concrete foundations and structures
* stormwater and drainage network construction
* public and community buildings; school, police department, health center, administration etc.
* temporary and permanent erosion control measures
* community livelihood support works; replacement agricultural land, tree nursery etc.
Key Responsibilities
* Compliance, oversight, guidance and support to the Contractor
* Support the implementation of the Company HSE Policies and procedures
* Support the implementation of the Company Assurance program and processes
* Provide safety leadership to Contractor to achieve best in class safety performances on site
* Actively participate in Contractor site toolbox talks, pre-starts and site safety briefings and meetings
* Monitor and report on Contractor compliance to project HSE and Assurance requirements
* Monitoring and Review of Contractor related Assurance activities and verification documentation
* Assure Contractor is performing all works in accordance with the approved plans and procedures
* Site surveillance and reporting of contractor construction progress against approved schedules
* Assist line Managers as required in the management of the overall Construction program,
* Work closely with contractor construction teams to ensure a concise and clear understanding of all applicable engineering designs, project specifications and standards,
* Complete discipline document reviews and comments for assurance approvals
* Review Engineering contractor design drawings, technical notes, specifications and similar deliverables produced within Discipline.
* Monitor and review construction practices, including design control, document control, interface management and special processes,
* Provide detailed daily records and reports as required by line management
* Ensure alignment and coordination between resettlement project needs and RV construction schedule with the aim of facilitating households moves.
* Undertake Mechanical Completion inspections, including engagement with Government Third-Party inspectors, verification of quality documentation and signoff of contractor completion dossiers.
* Apply the project Technical Query process and submit, track and facilitate the closure of all TQ's and associated construction changes.
* Contribute to the continuous development and improvement of contractor construction practices
* Attend Construction management progress, planning meetings and workshops,
* Report all incidents and near misses immediately,
* Comply with a duty of care to ensure that safe practice is adhered to at all times.
* Adhere to the Business Principles and Code of Conduct at all times
Specific experience and expertise in the following areas is required:
* Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant industry experience with directly supervising contractors and/or work crews in civil road construction, utility infrastructure and building works on major capital projects
* Proven track record of working as a Company representative on lump sum oil and gas projects
* Proven ability to liaise professionally with Engineering and Construction Contractors and other key stakeholders on site
* Previous experience in a similar role(s) on a large scale project(s) with a history of safety leadership,
* Proven experience in the construction of roads, storm drainage, culverts, sewer, water reticulation
* Advanced knowledge of civil construction activities for onshore road networks and utility infrastructure and associated disciplines; survey, concrete structures, structural erection, power, water supply
* Knowledge of appropriate codes, standards and good construction and engineering practices specifically within the civil, structural, mechanical, piping construction disciplines,
Education & Qualifications
* A degree/diploma qualification or equivalent in related discipline field and/or Infrastructure projects.
* Civil Construction & Maintenance Certificate Level 4 (or equivalent)
