Position Summary
Responsible for ensuring the safety and comfort of divers in saturation diving systems and decompression chambers. Manages and controls variable factors such as depth, pressure, oxygen percentage of system and breathing gas, concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, temperature, and humidity.
Duties & Responsibilities
Daily management of the saturation diving system, to include but not limited to:
Daily supervision and mentoring of the Tenders assigned to the SAT system. Ensure adherence to Oceaneering International diving policies and procedures. Direct communication with the Diving Superintendent and Diving Supervisor during diving operations. Control and running of the saturation control panel. Monitoring and calibration of oxygen and carbon dioxide analyzers. Maintaining saturation watch, monitoring chamber environments and keeping them within appropriate parameters. Calibration of all environmental analyzers. Logging all aspects of the chamber environment and its occupants. Saturation watch for 12 hour shifts and then being on emergency call out during the off-shift cycle. Mixing gas appropriately to suit saturation storage, diving operations and emergency breathing. Use of high pressure compressors to move large quantities of gas to various storage cylinders. Operate gas reclaim and purification systems. Operation of the medical locks to pass food and other necessary items into the chambers. Passing diving equipment into the chamber via equipment locks. Overall maintenance, readiness and cleanliness of the saturation diving system and related life support equipment.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience:
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Saturation diving experience (commercial or military); formal training in the field Gas handling experience Life Support Technician (LST) Certification
Other Requirements:
Willing to work offshore in harsh weather environments on a rotation or callout basis Able to pass a post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation Willing to ride boats, barges, and air transportation to remote areas Able to obtain a valid Passport and Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC Card) Good computer skills and competent in Microsoft Office Professional (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
