Job Description

This individual will be responsible for project management of all construction services related projects; business development, marketing and maintaining client relations for construction services; directing daily activities of field/laboratory engineering technicians and inspectors; working with managers in leading contract negotiations with the client; coordination and assistance with the geotechnical and laboratory groups in the office; and for quality and timely completion of assignments in accordance with contracted scope and schedule.
Roles And Responsibilities

    Performs project management, proposal writing, and marketing for construction service projects.
    Acts as key point of contact with clients on construction services projects.
    Coordinates with construction service managers in other offices for planning purposes, business development and efficient utilization of resources.
    Plans, assigns and directs field observation, testing and laboratory work
    Interviews, selects, trains and supervises field and lab technicians.
    Provides training, career guidance and professional counseling to technicians.
    Handles internal and external complaints and responds to clients as needed.
    Develops and maintains positive client relations and clear communications with internal and external team members.
    Successfully secures contracts for the testing/inspection and lab services group.
    Participates in marketing-oriented industry and professional societies such as California Council of Testing and Inspection Agencies.  Works with society leadership to optimize contacts.
    Support and encourage continuous improvement of the company's processes, including, but not limited to, the Fugro Consultants, Inc., safety program.
    Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

    10-15 years of CMT related experience in construction, construction management, testing, and inspection; or an equivalent combination of Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering or related field and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience or a Master’s degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering or related field and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience  
    California PE preferred.
    Experience with Caltrans, ACOE, DSA, CCRL, AMRL and over site agencies testing requirements, inspection certification or proficiency exams, and quality manuals
    Must have a broad knowledge in the inspection and testing of soils, concrete, structural steel, masonry, welding, fireproofing.
    Possesses proficient verbal and written skills and represents the firm in client field meetings.
    Strong communication skills, including report writing, and public speaking.
    Possesses a demonstrated ability to manage field, lab and technical staff including a strong ability to motivate employees, and able to communicate in a professional and clear manner.
    Highly organized; able to work with short deadlines and on multiple projects and tasks.
    Work well independently as well as with all levels of staff.
    Strong computer skills.
    Ability to work overtime and take phone calls outside normal working hours.
    Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
    Possession of a valid, unrestricted California driver's license, and an acceptable driving record.
    Some domestic and international travel may be required; must be able to obtain passport.
