Job Description
Fugro Geotechnical Services Ltd (FGS) is an operating company within the Fugro Onshore Geotechnical Division. FGS comprises two departments – Site Investigation and Instrumentation.
The Site Investigation Department has approximately 120 members of staff, and undertakes geotechnical investigation on land and nearshore over water. Geotechnical investigation comprises field data acquisition through drilling, in-situ testing, exploratory excavation and surface mapping/survey. All field data is controlled, checked, treated and reported within the department. These activities are carried out primarily within Hong Kong, with occasional work within both the South East Asia region and the Fugro Group worldwide.
The primary role of the Equipment Engineer is to manage the FGS geotechnical testing and monitoring equipment including the preparation, calibration, maintenance and inventory management. The incumbent shall provide support to the operational and project teams.
The position will be based in Fo Tan, New Territories, HKSAR with occasional visits to site. Support will be provided as necessary and there is good scope to develop the role subject to the particular skills and aptitude of the individual. Roles And Responsibilities
1) Maintenance and control of measurement equipment concerned with in-situ testing and monitoring for ground investigation works.
2) Organisation and control of maintenance facility
3) Application of key quality principles throughout the operational processes of: planning, control, assurance and improvement.
4) Understand and adhere to FGS quality, health, safety and environmental policies.
5) Clear communication by verbal and written records with all parties including field operational and supervisory staff, suppliers and sub-contractors. Requirements
It is likely that the right candidate will have a minimum Diploma-level education [or equivalent international standard] in electronics or similar subject.
Skills / experience required to do the job:
The right candidate will have a good combination of most of the following skills and experience:
· Hands-on experience in the field of measurement and instrumentation
· Instrument calibrations and diagnostics
· Application of test equipment in the field
· Inventory management
· Planned maintenance programme
· Document control
· Hong Kong or international driving license
· Cantonese and English language skills
