Job Description
The Operations Manager would be responsible for managing day to day control of the operational resources of the Geotechnical Division of Fugro-Suhaimi Ltd. Saudi Arabia, focusing on safety, quality, productivity, performance and client satisfaction.
Roles And Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities:

    Provide data and advisory support about project schedule and cost estimates to Commercial team at project quotation stage;

    On award of project, work together with Commercial and Engineering teams to establish Project Plan and Schedules with manpower allocation, rig and major equipment deployment, etc;

    With the support of Asst. Operations Manager/Operations Supervisor, ensure correct and timely staffing of all projects with drillers, supervisors,  as well as deployment of mechanics as required;

    Lead the effort, logistic and manage all aspects to ensure that all resources are available at every stage of all projects and used in the most optimum way to achieve the highest output possible, with neither downtime nor demurrage for which FSL will be liable to pay. Some of the major resources are:

    

        Onshore Drilling rigs;

        CPT trucks for on shore projects;

        Load testing equipment

    All equipment required for protection of workmen in good condition and in adequate quantities;

    Coordinate continuously with all departments to ensure smooth alignment of operations, anticipate and resolve issues which may hold up operations;

    Manage relationships with contractors and suppliers to ensure services and materials are made available at the right time and cost;

    With the support of Workshop Supervisor, ensure rigs, CPT Trucks, vehicles and equipment are available for use as and when required, in good condition and in conformance with Quality and HSSE standards;

    Oversee the fabrication and customisation of rigs and other large equipment, either in-house or by contractors, within budgets and timelines, as well as the functioning of scheduled and breakdown maintenance;

    Oversee proper upkeep of all Operations related facilities, workshop areas, stores, and storage of machines and equipment;

    Oversee proper documentation of Operations functioning and prepare regular progress and compile any other report as required by Management;

    Ensure that all work undertaken by Operations personnel as well as those outsourced to contractors and service providers, conform to FSL’s Quality and HSSE standards;

    Lead and guide departmental teams at all times and provide advice or suitable solutions to work-related issues as well as to personal/inter-personal issues which affect the work/workplace;

    Coach direct reports and team leaders to ensure their improved performance and increase in competence;

    Ensure fair and objective evaluation of the performance of employees in own department and recommend changes in their remuneration based on such data;

    Request and organize necessary training for department staff;

    Lead and take overall responsibility of all documentation in terms of quality, HSE, technical requirements and other calibration and maintenance plans.

Requirements

Qualifications required:

Technical qualifications in Geology, Mechanical or Production Engineering, preferably equivalent to Graduation / B.E. in Engineering; if not, then Diploma or Certification in equivalent disciplines with additional practical experience.

 

Skills / experience required to do the job:

    At least 10 years of hands-on experience in a similar organization, of which at least 3 years in a similar role, managing a medium sized team (10- 15).

    Preferably, should have experience in hands-on maintenance of hydraulics, diesel and petrol engines and drilling rigs.

    Preferably, should have KSA experience and a qualified Driver.
