Computational Software Engineer
Location: Houston - United States

The Computational Software Engineer is responsible for numerical and analytical modeling, and translating the models into computer programs. Major duties include: engineering modeling; translating models into software code; software development and programming; project planning and management; publishing industry articles and internal reports; analyzing experimental data; providing technical support to field operations personnel; collecting and analyzing field data; interacting with clients and client presentations.

The position reports to the Project Manager.

Responsibilities

    Develops numerical and analytical models
    Develops engineering models based on laboratory and field data
    Develops and tests computer code to implement models into software
    Performs software development and testing activities
    Provides technical support to field and office-based personnel
    Analyzes laboratory experimental and field data
    Writes technical papers, reports, and software documentation
    Interacts with internal and external clients, gives presentations

Employees may be assigned other duties, in addition to, or in lieu of those described above, according to the needs of the location or Company.

Qualifications

    Master’s Degree or PhD in Engineering, Science or Applied Mathematics or equivalent
    Numerical analysis and programming skills
    Excellent communication skills, both verbal and technical writing
    Experience of working in an oil or gas field location is preferred but not essential
    Knowledge of fluid hydraulics and drilling process is preferred but not essential
    Experience of real-time application development is considered an advantage
    Knowledge of WITSML and real-time architecture is preferred but not essential
    Travel requirements: 0-10 %
