The Drilling Services group is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. This will be a unique opportunity to join a cross discipline team working with state of the art technologies in the energy industry. Our projects are executed in collaboration with academia, government, and corporate partners. This hands on position involves full exposure to design, development, testing, and deployment of new components and complete systems for harsh environment operations. Key responsibilities/accountabilities Conceptual design development utilizing advanced analytical tools including CAD and finite element analysis. Optimize design concepts to meet performance/reliability requirements and cost targets utilizing advanced simulation tools for functional as well as survivability evaluation. Mechanical Design Standards and Guidelines Contribute to the development and maintenance of leading standards with respect to functional tool requirements and industrial competition. Collaborate with manufacturing with respect to manufacturability of tools. Develop test plans and supervise execution of engineering tests at a prototype system level or prototype component level. Write reports to summarize testing and communicate lessons learned. Complete documentation and change management processes for new product development. Present in conceptual and detailed design reviews to complete milestones in the technology development process. Design for survivability in harsh operating environmental conditions including shock, vibration, high temperature, and high pressure. Essential qualifications/requirements Above-average university degree (FH, University, TU). Advanced technical skills including experience in CAD (3-D modelling and 2D drafting), and the utilization of Finite Element Analysis tools in a design & build environment. Demonstrated advanced problem solving skills with respect to Applied Mechanics, Engineering Design, and Technology Development. Self-contained, self-motivated and structured to work within a worldwide functioning interdisciplinary team. Good written and verbal English skills, due to working in an international working environment and strong interest in working with other cultures. Preferred qualifications/requirements Practical experience in the above mentioned area of expertise gathered during internships, thesis and/or professional experience. Experience with Solid Works (CAD System). Demonstrated strong ability to develop within a technical mentoring environment as well as to work independently.
